US State Secretary accuses Rosneft of buying oil from Venezuela
WASHINGTON, Mar 12 (PRIME) -- U.S. State Secretary Michael Pompeo has accused Russian oil producer Rosneft of buying crude from Venezuela, which violates U.S. sanctions, he told reporters on Tuesday.
“Russia’s state-owned oil company, Rosneft, continues to purchase crude oil cargoes from PDVSA, Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, in defiance of U.S. sanctions. And Rosneft’s CEO, Igor Sechin, continues to throw a lifeline to the regime (in Venezuela),” Pompeo said.
Pompeo also accused Russian companies of buying Venezuela’s gold reserves for money.
